Second Round: Misty Knight versus Psylocke

In one corner with have the badass Misty Knight. Misty’s a former cop with a bionic arm that’s been working with her best friend, Colleen Wing, for a long while. Despite being one of the most popular POC characters from Marvel, she hasn’t been the protagonist of her own book for a while. We’ll be seeing her in Heroes for Hire soon.

In the other corner stands long-time member of the X-Men, Psylocke. Twin sister of Captain Britain, Betsy’s history is a long and convoluted one. Nevertheless, she’s a strong and important member of the mutant community. She’s currently a member of Uncanny X-Force.

You have time to vote until Friday 2AM GMT!

I’m late, but here are last matches’ winners! At the beginning it looked like Karla was going to be a tough rival, but Sue ended up winning without problem. Betsy also won comfortably, even though I’d expected Outlaw to gain more votes because she had a good number of nominations in general. Thanks everyone for voting!

First Round: Matches 9 & 10

Thanks everyone for your last minute votes. I’ll be posting the results of the previous matches soon! Now it’s time for mooore voting. Match 9 is Fantastic Four’s strongest member, Sue Storm, against long-time supervillain/superheroine Karla “Moonstone” Sofen.

Coming from a difficult childhood, Sue was part of the crew that went into space in Reed Richard’s spaceship. Unfortunately, the ship didn’t have adequate shielding and they were bombarded by cosmic rays. This radiation gave them superhuman abilities that they decided to use to fight crime. Nowadays, Sue is married to Reed and they have two children. She has the potential to become the strongest member of the FF, but has still to realise this.

Former member of the Masters of Evil, Karla Sofen has an M.D. in Psychiatry and had build a successful practice for herself, but was still disatisfied with life. While working for Doctor Faustus, Karla had to deal with the original Moonstone and devised a plan for him to reject the stone. She would later absorbed it into her body, thus becoming the new Moonstone. Sometimes a supervillain, sometimes a superheroine, Karla’s still working on her redemption in the Thunderbolts program.

Vote!

The next match-up puts Inez “Outalaw” Temple against Psylocke!

A mutant with superhuman strength and durability, Inez Temple beat up her bullies when her power manifested. When she grew older, she became a mercenary and teamed-up in several ocassions with Deadpool. She would later join Agency X. Appearing here and there, Outlaw was last seen on Utopia, so maybe we’ll see her as one of the X-Men soon? Who knows.

Psylocke boasts having one of the most convoluted backgrounds as a regular member of the X-Men. Twin sister of Captain Britain, Betsy is a mutant with telepathic and telekinetic powers that she can focus into her characteristic neuro-disruptive blade. She is also a skilled martial artist. Right now she is one of the members of the new Uncanny X-Force team.

Vote!

You have time to vote until Saturday 12AM GMT!

Marvel’s Finest Women Tournament
So we’re down for this! Thanks everyone for your input. This is my first tournament ever, so I’ll do my best for you to enjoy and have fun with this.
In order to decide the competitors, I thought it’d be good to have nominations so that you can see your favorite ladies in this tournament.
Each one of you will be able to nominate up to three different characters.
I can’t ask you to not go anon, but it’d be great if you just nominated once. I think our competitors list it’s going to be bigger than the one at @dcwomenkickingass, so it’s likely that you’ll see your favs in this tournament.
Why not include every single character? Well, I have a list of 200+ female characters from Marvel, to pull off something like that would take… I don’t know, maybe months and most probably many people would lose interest in the end. I haven’t decided the max number of competitors, but like I said, it’s going to be bigger than the one for the DC women.
Obscure and less-known characters will be probably left out if they don’t receive that many nominations, but fear not! I was actually planning to start a series of posts concentrating on characters that don’t get as much fan recognition.
That’s what I’ve come up with for now. I’ll probably open nominations on Monday, so if you have any suggestions for this tournament, do send them to our ask box, ‘cause I will definitely have them in mind! Like I said, I want to make the best of this and I’m sure I’ll be able to with your help ;)
ALSO! Feel free to reblog this post so that more people get involved with this :D

So it’s Tumblr Tuesday and for the first time I’m going to invite you to recommend us to the comics directory! Don’t feel like it? Well, then how about recommending Fuck Yeah Psylocke, a Tumblr dedicated to one of my favorite X-Men. Go take a look at it, if you haven’t yet!

Psylocke’s got one of the most convoluted backgrounds. Changing bodies, impersonators, brainwashing, etc. But if you’ve always been interested in her and want to learn about her history, I suggest you watch this video at Comic Vine.
Art by the great Jenny Frison.

No idea if this is fan-made or what, but I thought it was a pretty great summary of what Betsy’s been going through recently, without spoiling Second Coming.

I really like Frampton’s use of depth of field. A lot of illustrators using computers to aid in their art/animation cells could take a lesson from him.
DOF is the new Kirby Crackle. And you can quote me on that.
