Third Round: Match-ups 1 & 2
Time to start with the Sweet 16! Like I said before, we’ll be getting two matches per day. You have time to vote until Tuesday 2AM GMT!
Match-up #1: Emma Frost versus Jubilee
Match-up #2: Ms. Marvel vesus Rogue
Second Round: Emma Frost versus Moonstar
In one corner we have one of the leaders of the X-Men, Emma Frost! A mutant with psychic abilities, Emma was at the beginning the White Queen, enemy of the X-Men. Since then, she’s been trying hard to redeem herself. She’s also a teacher that genuinely loves her students.
In the other corner, depowered mutant Dani Moonstar! Dani used to be able to create illusions, but was left depowered after M-Day. Though she went through a crisis after finding out, Dani came back to the New Mutants and has shown that she’s more than capable of holding her own without superpowers.
The winners of the previous two matches! As expected, Emma won practically by a landslide. Jubilee also won comfortably, but there was a surge of votes for Armor a couple of hours before I closed the polls, which I think speaks about the fact that despite being a rather newish character that has been featured mostly on Astonishing X-Men, Hisako has quite a fanbase :D
First Round: Matches 1and 2!
It’s Monday 12AM GMT, so here are the first two matches! First up is Emma Frost, “The White Queen”, former villain and current member of the X-Men agains the assasin Elektra Natchios, one of the most skilled martial artists of the Marvel U.
And next up, Jubilation Lee, best known as Jubilee, a former mutant with the power to control pyrotechnics and that now has become a vampire, versus Hisako “Armor” Ichiki, Wolverine’s newest protegée.
You have time to vote until Tuesday 12AM GMT, a whole day. The polls will be closed once I post the next two matches. (Sorry for the lack of images, I’m currently at a friend’s home, will update something later!)

The votes for the nominations have been tallied :D We received a lot of different noms and many of them had more than one vote, so leaving characters out from the main competition was really difficult. So here’s how it looks: we have 64 contestants that have been divided into 8 groups. This means that for the first round we have 32 matches. Now it’s time for me to hear your opinions. For this first round, I was planning to have two matches per day in order not to extend the tournament that much, but I’m leaving the decision up to you, since I’m organising this tournament for your enjoyment. So tell me what you think, what you’d like to see.
Also! I already have the brackets, but I want each match to be sort of a surprise~, so I won’t post them here. But… would you like me to disclose the list of competitors for you to see which characters made it?
Marvel’s Finest Women Tournament
So we’re down for this! Thanks everyone for your input. This is my first tournament ever, so I’ll do my best for you to enjoy and have fun with this.
In order to decide the competitors, I thought it’d be good to have nominations so that you can see your favorite ladies in this tournament.
- Each one of you will be able to nominate up to three different characters.
- I can’t ask you to not go anon, but it’d be great if you just nominated once. I think our competitors list it’s going to be bigger than the one at @dcwomenkickingass, so it’s likely that you’ll see your favs in this tournament.
- Why not include every single character? Well, I have a list of 200+ female characters from Marvel, to pull off something like that would take… I don’t know, maybe months and most probably many people would lose interest in the end. I haven’t decided the max number of competitors, but like I said, it’s going to be bigger than the one for the DC women.
- Obscure and less-known characters will be probably left out if they don’t receive that many nominations, but fear not! I was actually planning to start a series of posts concentrating on characters that don’t get as much fan recognition.
That’s what I’ve come up with for now. I’ll probably open nominations on Monday, so if you have any suggestions for this tournament, do send them to our ask box, ‘cause I will definitely have them in mind! Like I said, I want to make the best of this and I’m sure I’ll be able to with your help ;)
